What’s up in the chicken market?

Poultry update Week of 11/24/2024
Happy Thanksgiving week! The markets are steady - no changes the last few weeks. Breast meat tightened up little the last few weeks. Tenders, wings and wogs haven’t moved along with dark meat.
Chicken tip of the week: As I always tell our end-users “Let us do the labor and you do the flavor.” This rings true when your business is growing where it’s difficult to maintain consistency in your portions. Many of our end-users have grown their business but have always done their own, in-house portioning and marination. When you're growing to the point where you need more consistency and need to streamline your business operationally, Holly Poultry can come in and replicate what the back of the house is doing on a daily basis with fresh poultry portioning. This alleviates the operator from hiring more staff, training employees the proper way to cut each piece of chicken and in turn save time and money. The operator has more focus on growing organically and focus on the line out of their front door. Taking the worry out of prepping in back of the house when all they need to do is order from Holly, open the case and start with a ready to cook, portioned poultry program. Thats when the volume really starts to increase, and profits begin rolling in!
Fun Fact: Do we eat female chicken meat or male chicken meat? LONG story short…The famers tell us they are all female (hens) chickens because its more economical to raise females. Not only do they provide us meat but also eggs. The male chickens (roosters) are aggressive and territorial and will constantly fight each other. NOTE: the rooster meat is fine for consumption!
